The Competent Partner in keeping well your Rolling Stock
MÁV-GÉPÉSZET Co. is a dominant and complex Maintenance & Repair Service Provider for all types of Rail Units of the Hungarian Rolling Stock. Company form is a private company limited by shares. The current main shareholder (99,9%) is MÁV Co.
The Company is a key member of MÁV (Hungarian State Railways) Group focusing on and delivering complex services for maintenance and repair of rail vehicles. It has a strong market position with an operational network of 36 workshop locations.
The traditional Partners – MÁV-START Co. / passenger transport and MÁV-TRAKCIÓ Co. / passenger and freight transport related traction and shunting operation - are members of MÁV Group, just as the Company is. Its overall market share is more than 90%. There are reasonable good business relationships with almost all private rail companies in Hungary irrelevantly whether they are MÁV origin firms or are established by other rail companies having subsidiaries in the country.
The main strategic goal of the Company is to become and stay a reliable, business sense Partner for its Customers in the home and in the targeted Central European markets. The Company is committed to quality operation and intends keeping up with technological, environmental and social challenges. It strives to widen cooperation with Rolling Stock Operators that have running vehicles on the Hungarian rail lines or contact other public transport companies seeking a Partner for remanufacturing electric (traction) motors.
As an independent economic entity the Company strives to manage the right level of doing business and stay successful as market leader in this segment. It aims to keep up with the demands of its traditional main Business Partners that are representing the Hungarian passenger transport and rail traction fields.
2009 was a year of restructuring key internal processes of rail vehicle higher grade repairs, focusing on a more effective and cost cutting operation. Earlier there were two separated Repair Centre. Due to some duplication in operation, parts management and the size of the workshop staff, which was combined with slackening trend in repair needs, the overall repair activity slowed down resulting in unused repair capacity. By the end of 2009 all kind of electric and diesel-electric Locomotive overhauls and modernization works were performed under “one roof of the dedicated workshop” eliminating ineffective process elements.
This year’s highlight for the Company will be to “Open wider window” toward other European Railway and Public Transport Companies and their affiliates, seeking possible ways of closer cooperation with them.
MÁV-GÉPÉSZET Zrt is committed to become a reliable and flexible business Partner for the interested Rail Companies appreciating the various potential working cooperation levels from a broad-scope strategic contact to very specific and complex maintenance and / or repair agreements.
