The Smart Wheel Sensor is designed for use in railway automation and signalling equipment in order to generate a signal when train wheels are passing by above it.

The Smart Wheel Sensor is mounted on a rail web, and consists of two inductive sensing elements and a microcontroller enclosed in a single casing.

  • Detection of train wheels passing by

  • Generation of warnings when the Smart Wheel Sensor is detached from a rail or when any metal items appear in the working area of the sensor
  • Continuous self-checks and communication line checks

Two modifications of the Smart Wheel Sensor are available:
  • Analog "dry contact" output. When train wheels are passing by, the sensor generates an impulse with a given duration and amplitude. The sensor can also generate "heartbeat" signals, which help control the status of the sensor and its communication line.
  • Digital output with the RS485 or CAN interface. The output parameters can be easily customized.

  • All signal outputs have galvanic isolation.

• Operating temperature range: -60–65˚С;
