Competence in RailwayVIS GmbH in Halberstadt represents manufacturing experience spanning more than 170 years and expertise in the construction of railway vehicles. From its modest beginnings in 1843, the company developed from repairing passenger and goods carriages and steam locomotives into a manufacturer of new passenger train carriages. Badly damaged in the Second World War, the factory was re-launched in 1949.
In 1965 the first four-axle 18.7m long Bghwe passenger train carriage was developed, more than 3300 of which were supplied up to 1977. In total, 12000 vehicles had left our production halls by 2001.
A further milestone was set in May 2002 with the takeover of the factory by the Zeppenfeld Industrial Group.
Our performance in recent years demonstrates that VIS GmbH offers the full service of a modern vehicle production company.
Our key areas of expertise include accident repair, new construction, modernisation and maintenance of rail vehicles of any gauge and their component assemblies. This covers the manufacture of vehicle body shells, complete side walls and bogies, for example. The VIS GmbH has an own repair shop for bogies.
